I remember app 10 years ago or so - my sister was going out on an online first date on Christmas Eve! I thought it was really strange but her kids were with her ex and I'm guessing he was in the same situation. She felt it was better than being alone. So - 3 days before is not such a big deal. Often there's a week or 2 in between dates anyway.
