This season is shaping up a bit different than previous years. H is joining me for those Christmas parties and awards banquets. I have to learn how to be social with H along again! lol

I hope this doesn't sound too silly, but how does one know the difference between tired or lazy or depressed?

It's an excellent question, actually. I treat thyroid patients, and I see people all the time who were told to take antidepressants for their "depression", when really their complaint was that they were too tired to do anything - because of their thyroid problem.

The way I see it:

TIRED - would like to get out and do things, but it all just seems like too much effort. Not unhappy, necessarily, although may be frustrated that their physical limitations are keeping them from things

LAZY - I really have trouble with this as a concept. I think most people who get labeled as lazy, are really actually tired. We all know certain super-energetic people who can run rings around the rest of us - they don't have superior minds, they have superior health. Conversely, I think most "lazy" people are suffering from some medical condition that makes everything harder.

DEPRESSED - depression causes anhedonia - the loss of the ability to take pleasure in things that would normally be fun or enjoyable. Sadness OR irritability OR anxiety may manifest. Obsessive intrusive negative thoughts may occur.

Thanks for your thoughts kml.
So many days it feels like my get up and go got up and went. Without me!

Cold snap coming, maybe that will slap me with some enthusiasm. (NOT)

Thanks kat! I really do not need a puppy but that's when they drop in your lap. The puppy that adopted us last year is wonderful, and I believe that little dog brought out feelings and emotions in H again. Things he had buried but couldn't help but feel again with a puppy wiggling all over.

So we're closing down on another holiday season, another calendar year. So many years I felt it was going to be our last together, how hard H worked to break free of traditions. I moved forward, I made my plans, I celebrated without him, but I always left room for him if he chose to join me.

I spent a lot of time visiting with my best friends Time and Patience. Eventually H started inching in his way back. There is still a lot of room for improvement with us, and maybe that's my problem. H told me that 'you always want more'. Well, yeah, is that a BAD quality? hhmmm.

We still dance around some issues, and I still find it works best to plant a seed and then let it become H's idea. That's nothing new either.

I've never had a big fan base here, but for anyone that catches my thread, I hope you may get a glimmer of hope that there is a chance for you too. Every sitch is different, and make sure you don't insert too much of someone else's issues into what you are dealing with in real life.

Bring on the New Year!!!!

WCW,
I had trouble sleeping last night so I went and looked up your old threads. I'm not all the way through yet, but will definitely finish reading them.

I just want to say that I admire the way you've handled your sitch and that you are an inspiration.

Your courage and strength, not to mention grace and dignity shine through.

Thank you for continuing to post letting us know that there is hope.

Here's to the New Year and getting all your dreams fulfilled.
