Hey Kat,

Congrats on your D becoming a teen! Mine became a teen the day after 911 - the week her dad took off to join the circus. It was a difficult time.

When my D turned 20 I remember priding myself on the fact she was attending college, did not get pregnant, was not a smoker and had never been arrested - LOL!

Single parenting a teen daughter has it's difficulties and its drama but it's our most important role. Stick firm with your rules (everyone needs them) and love her throughout it all. Make sure she knows she can turn to you. No Matter What!

Congrats!

Thanks Barb, I will keep that in mind. She kept bugging me to let her get on FB and get an email address. I told her when you are 13 and you have to have me as a friend onFB. She asked me Saturday and again on Sunday. I gave her the same response "Are you 13 yet?". So her birthday came and went and last night she piped up that she had forgot that she could get on FB now.

Her Momma was her first friend. smile

Good stuff! I think it's so important to keep tabs on their internet and texting stuff.

Ashley is my FB friend. Today. It's an on again off again thing. At 23 - I can't tell her what to do. My friends and I laugh. We think it's great when our daughters reduce their friends list and we actually make the cut.

I've been cut off at least 4 times. And each time - all of my friends were still on her page. So funny. I mean - its not like they wouldn't tell me if she was up to something.

One of the best things I did when my kids were growing up was to try to make similar rules to their friends' parents. It really did help if they all had the same curfew. Of course - not everyone is on the same page but it was nice when they were.

FB is about belonging. She will be so happy to be part of the social scene. But as my dad taught me - everything in moderation!

Sick all weekend yuck! What a waste of free time. frown. At least S16 and I fixed the dishwasher dispenser today. I am starting to feel better when I am not sneezing and coughing.

Hope everyone is good.

Wow, I had to walk all the way back to page two to find myself! Guess that is what happens when you don't post as often. smile

So earlier this year I got two credit cards with small limits for my trip to Denmark and Germany with S19. Used them on the trip and a few times here and there. Always paid them off so no interest. I found myself in a bit of a pickle with car tags and my furnace being sick and early start to Christmas shopping. Yep, used the cards. Not that these were huge amounts but would take a real bite out of my savings.

I fretted over this for a week or so and then stopped myself. That is what savings is for. I have been where I had zero, nada, zilch in savings when I went through the bankruptcy and I was still going to have some savings left. Stop being scared, keep saving and pay those bad boys off.

Felt really good to face my fears.

You guys know my love of cardinals. While I was at the pet store this weekend getting cat and ferret supplies, I came across a few feeders but couldn't really decide even where I would put one. Most of the branches I have in my backyard are from the neighbors trees and they are kind of high up.

Anyway I metioned it to S16 and all he could say was, "Please Mom, don't get like Grandma!"
