I know how you feel. My dad also went into hospital, and never came out. It was 3 days after my 16th birthday, 1978. I still miss him, and my mom, who passed 5 years later.
The firsts in the year after is always so poignant ... your birthday, his birthday, easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas, sporting events, the first time he's not there when your kids have their birthdays. Try and do the things he loved at this time in memory of him (although I think you do that anyway, not so?).
Have a blessed season, Wii. I think about you often, wondering how you're doing. I finally found your new thread a couple of days ago, and see that you are definitely moving on in a big way. Good for you.

I'm definitely moving! I'm doing the best I can with what I've got. Trying to be grateful for what I have. Yet, for some reason, I just feel so alone today. I never thought I'd be 53 years old, sitting alone in an apartment trying to get women I've never met to have coffee with me through the internet. Feels kind of pathetic somehow lol! Tonight I'm going to start reading The Accident by Ismail Kadare. I used the money I was going to spend on lunch with my friend to buy it...or maybe I should watch Zookeeper again, it always makes me laugh till I cry but then, I've done enough of that crying thing already today!
Well, I'm hitting on...uh, messaging two Latino ladies tonight, it's an Asian free day! OK, one is a social worker but I can't give everything up all at once lol. I've also started reading my book.
Wii, I like your quote at the bottom of your thread.

Thanks Being Me, I love Rumi! I used some lines from one of his short poems for my online dating profile too, "Lovers don't finally meet somewhere. They're in each other all along." Some of his words just really touch me...and at other times I have know idea what the heck he's talking about lol.
Well, Whatis batted 0 for 3 this weekend, it's been my highest rejection rate so far! Now, when this happens I like to remember an old friend of mine who used to say that 9 in 10 women you ask will turn you down, but he always felt good when a woman rejected him because that meant he was one closer to that magic number 10 who was gonna say yes! My girls asked me the other night how the online dating was going. I said "I'm getting positive repsonses from about 20% of the ladies I contact". My youngest says "so, in other words, you're failing badly!" Thanks kids!Lol.

That's funny...and it's certainly looking at the positive instead of the negative. When you were playing football and you got hit hard, you didn't come out of the game. You got back up, dusted yourself off, and got back in the game. And you didn't even think about it anymore.

Well, I'm going for a 49 year old bookkeeper/office administrator today...who doesn't seem to believe in soul mates either! She's checked my profile...we'll see.
Well, bombed with the bookkeeper! But I'm taking one more shot elsewhere because I have a dream that one day this lonely STB single man will rise up and live out the true meaning of a relationship. I have a dream that... uh, anyway I'm still plugging away.
