It's just been sitting there festering for awhile but I think you've used the time to good measure.

You still have to grieve. It's been a long time coming, sort of like seeing a beloved relative slipping not so gracefully into old age. The end hasn't been so sudden, but it's still an end (which opens you up for a brand, new beginning!).

You've had a lot of things happen with your health and family over the past few years and especially recently. Now you can really put some energy into moving forward in ways that you were hindered from by still having that last pesky little thing that needed to be taken care of.
