On the last Season of the Bachelorette - one of the girls did embalming for a living. She made it to the top 4. I liked her. But I think the show killed it for her because on the "meet the family" episode they focussed most on her career and it got kind of creepy. He ditched her - couldn't blame him.
Hey - I'm over 40, blonde and a teacher (well - dance teacher for over 40 years). But I'm taken. Oh well. LOL!
I also agree that it takes courage to put yourself out there. It is much easier to stay at home with the remote and the turtle. LOL. The first time was the hardest - not so bad after that. And hey - we all want honesty as long as it is put to us nicely.
Now get back to that list of 40 or more and choose another one.
Hey OT, I've only been at this a couple of months! Btw, good list but a little inaccurate:
Wife: Asian, Social worker CB: Asian, worked for a financial services company MM: Asian, Personal Support Worker (not a social worker) Office Aquaintance: Asian Social Worker Wendy: Asian Social Worker
Previous girlfriends: White, Arab, mixed race and not all social workers. Wife was my first Asian girlfriend.
Branch out is the message! Don't stay with what is comfortable, gotcha. Btw, embalmer was Asian, I'll pass on this one.
I'm really thinking about the embalmer now, this almost clinches it for me. From her profile, "I'm a loving person with a long patience, devoted, caring and I'm not a nagger... but I'm also dangerous if you hurt me" Wow, you could wake up one morning with your blood replaced by formaldehyde. Now that's dating excitement at its finest! Let's do coffee soon.
Question: What is this "special connection" one is supposed to feel? Wendy said she didn't feel it. I don't even know what it is! I've never felt this "she's the one" kind of feeling from an initial contact with a woman. The only magical indicator I ever noticed was when Mr. Woody stood on end, and I'm in my fifties now so that indicator is pretty much on the wane. But seriously though, can one expect to feel some "special connection" from one meeting with someone? I notice that gets common mention in women's profiles, they want to meet to feel the "spark", feel the "connection" or the "chemistry" Huh? I've seen one profile where she said "our eyes meet across a crowed room and we know..." Is she kidding? Never been there or done that. I've always found that feeling, if that's what it is, grows over time by knowing someone, spending time with them and then figuring out whether or not it's for real. For me if you can be together, talk for hours and enjoy that time then that's a pretty good start. Am I just a romantic luddite? What am I missing? Explain please!
It may be a matter of pheromones, or perhaps a matter of preferences. It can be a polite way of saying she thought you were too old for her, or too nice, or looked too much like her ex, or whatever. It's a mysterious thing, what attracts us to others - you just can't take it too personally. The very first guy I met, was nice-looking, age-appropriate, very smart (in a similar field) - we got along great. Just no romantic chemistry on either side. We became good friends - but nope, nuthin' ever changed.
The first boyfriend I had after the divorce, we met online but he lived far away - we didn't meet in person for a couple of months. When we did - spontaneous combustion. Great mutual attraction from the first moment. Just sheer luck on my part.
Don't sweat it - just tell yourself you're gonna go on fifty coffee dates and somewhere in there will be someone you have a mutual attraction with. AND DON'T TRY TOO HARD - scares us women off.
