three nights is about as much as I can take with zero sleep........ I'm not about to leave her in a room to cry alone when she's not even sure what's going on in the first place.

I'm suggesting that you follow the advice of another poster and put her - repeatedly - back in her bed. Fifty times if that's what it takes. You can take a brief minute to settle her back in, then tell her it's time for sleep and leave. Don't go back in at the first whimper, but if you can't let her cry, just go back, tell her it's bedtime,. tuck her in and leave. Repeat to the edge of insanity maybe, but if you are FIRM and CONSISTENT it will eventually work - and you NEED to make this work so that you can sleep. It would be FAR LESS TRAUMATIC vfor your daughter to have a happy functioning mother, even if it DID mean she cried herself to sleep once or twice. But I am not even suggesting that - just firm insistence that she stay in her own bed and go to sleep.

my personal record for putting son back in his own bed, while I was 7 months pregnant, was 27 times...in one night.

And the night before I did it 23 times, then lost my temper and yelled at him, which made him cry (H was on call so he was not home)

and when he cried, I let him stay in my bed...the NEXT night I calmly but firmly and exhaustedly...put him back 27 times and locked my bedroom door.

I HAD TO SURVIVE...and lo and behold. 3=4 nights and he was on his own.

After that there'd be a night or two a week where he'd wake up once or twice, we'd go in SILENTLY and check him, and leave the room. NO "rewarding" him with lots of comforting, or a bottle or more time, just making sure he was fine...

then doing it less and then after a bit, checking ONE time only...to let him know that YES we were alive and well in the next room but he needed to soothe himself. IT IS a life skill they need...

& it saved us all.

PS

you can advertise for a nanny job that pays less, and see who you get. My 22 is a part time nanny for 10-12$ depending on the times involved and her real job's hours. She's a college grad and SHE needs the work and we're in the LA area.

It's not cheap here.
