Hi,
I am new to the community as well. I tried to post a new topic yesterday, but haven't seen it come thru.

If anyone could explain if I went thru all the right channels to post and receive advice, that would be great.

Thank you!

My posts are taking a really long time. They were showing up rather quickly and they are taking a while. Why is that?

You are on full moderation, as are all newbies. With a good posting history, you won't be moderated, and we are working to make that a shorter period.

For those on full moderation, the goal is to approve posts within 24 hours, although the last week or so it has taken a bit longer. If it feels longer than 72 hours, your post may not have been 'bumped' when it was approved.

So far, you have a good posting history and you may be approved shortly. That's what you look for. I apologize for the inconvenience, we always look towards continuous improvement while retaining quality.

I am a little confused because my initial post rquesting advice has not appeared, yet a response to another was uploaded in a few hours. Does this mean that my initial post has been rejected?

Excellent question!

No it doesn't. It means it may not have been read yet, depending on which forum you initiated it. It was probably other than newcomers (I only moderate on newcomers and only can see this forum, and therefore, I haven't seen your initial post.). It is rare when a post is rejected. If there's a problem, it's more likely to be

1) commented on
2) edited
3) last, not approved.

It's even more rare when folks are banned or completely not approved.

My post was made to the newcomers forum actually, which is why I am surprised it has not shown up yet.

That is odd. I am surprised too. I only see 3 posts. I know that none have been rejected.
