You were holding in alot of pent up emotions. Even tho, you hadn't said anything, I would imagine some of it "leaked" out in body language ... maybe he was able to detect you seemed a little listless compared to the norm or he just picked up there was a little less bounce in your step. It have been just enough for him to notice a change was needed.

I'm sorry to hear you feel stuck in a rut / impasse. I get a sense you feel CJ is content with the way things are which makes you a tad resentful towards for CJ for feeling that way in addition to fact you don't feel you are at the level you want to be at.

If this is the case, attempt some steps towards bridging the gap between where his head is and yours in a way that won't get him defensive. Start by being interested in understanding where he is at. What if you use his toast from the other evening to maybe open the door. The next time you're enjoying a bottle of win, maybe you can approach CJ by telling you are interested in hearing in words what his version of bliss really is.
