You probably confirm to him that his thinking was right. You were, in a way, lucky, because if it would of turn-out to be wrong, he would of had YOU TO BLAME for it. You took the responsability of the outcome off his shoulder and onto yours. Be very careful when talking to him no matter what the subject is. My 2 cents.
