just want to jump in and give my schedule, in case you can use it.
i have my daughter monday, wednesdays, and every other weekend starting fridays. its perfectly 50/50. all swapping is done through daycare, and soon through school. if all goes well, i dont have to see x - major bonus.
the longest period of time away from my daughter is when x has her thurs to monday morning. but the next week i have her friday till tuesday morning.
my work and everyone knows my schedule, its easy to set up meetings, what days i leave work early, etc. its never too long without daughter, although weekends away feel like that regardless.
this is the one thing i would not budge on in my div agreement. and of course, starting even before we finalized and continuing till today, my x keeps trying to change it, every few months another new reason.

Just chiming in to agree with KenF - I like the consistency of a set schedule, and I think that whatever works best for the child(ren) is the best one. Some kids like the 3/4 day split, some don't. My S7 is not at all interested in going 3 days without seeing me, so we won't be going that route.
I am looking forward, in a few months, to being at a point where we can go to a M/W, T/Th overnight scenario, but we're not there yet.

Well my H apparently thinks that 1 night a week and Sat night is enough for him to see his kids. What kind of father thinks 2 days and 1 night is enough to spend with your kids? He has been working on Sats so told me he couldn't do every other weekend. So as usual I am the one picking up the pieces. how are the boys going to feel? Oh yeah dad wants to see you on Wed from 5-8 aand Sat after work? He didn't even act like he was keeping them over night. I am disgusted. I don't want to share them but how can he just not want to see them more?
He actually wanted to tell them tonight. and then what say goodnight and send them off to bed? Oh and get up in the am and off to school? He is acting like they are going to be happy about this. I really am disgusted. How could I have married someone like this? what happened to the man who so happy that his son was born that he cried and thanked me. I am just furious.

Man. Your H sounds like a piece of work. I can honestly say that although he's basically in a fog and acting like a completely selfish ass, H at least puts stock in people *thinking* he's a good dad, so he's interesting in spending time with S7.
Of course, we'll see how long until he tries to pack up and go move to live with his affair partner, leaving S7 behind (which is what I'm convinced is going to happen), but for now, he's involved.

I think that is what is just making me the craziest he was a good dad. He loved playing with them and doing fun stuff. Now he wasn't crazy about the bath, homework part. But he loved playing with them. Now all he wants to do is sit on the porch and text on his phone. The crazy thing is we talked about if we ever split up we would put them first and share them 50/50. Both of us had a father who left us as kids. I never thought he would do this to him. I hope this OW is worth it to him. My H's friends all think he is a great dad and we have a great marriage. The past few months he has just turned into a selfish ass
