So is your weather beautiful up there right now Wii? I'm so tired of being hot. Today we had a 'cold' front today which has helped a little. It dried the air out a little and cooled it down to 89F. Nice reprieve.

The evenings are going to be cool, and we've got some rain at the moment but, I'm with you, the heat just wears you down. When my kids were in Hong Kong the weather there was cooler than here! How often does that happen?

... and it's 82 degrees F in my apartment right now which is rather cool, this summer it's usually around 87!

OK, while I was waiting for the laundry to dry I thought it would be an interesting exercise to research Islam and dating. I already know the weird and wacky world of Filipino dating so I thought I'd move to where no sane man has ever gone before. Now, apparently, Muslims don't date...but when the do "don't date" men can "don't date" anyone they want but woman can't. So if a male "does not date" a non-Muslim she must convert before they can marry. Women must "don't date" only Muslim men. So in actual fact I have no freaking idea! That was very helpful.
...and here's a fun fact for you (Mall Cop guy says that), in the Philippines there is no divorce. If a Filipino gets a divorce outside the country, re-marries and returns he or she is considered a bigamist. Isn't the world a wonderful place! Now, back to doing something useful, folding the laundry.

Did you really say that it's 82f INSIDE your apartment???? 82??????? I'd drop dead. My air conditioning is going full blast, electric bill be darned. It's always a comfortable 72 in my house in the summer.

Islam is WAY to confusing. Too many contradictory things and prejudiced ideas. Every world religion has it's oddities but......one that encourages the death of non-believers really pushes me over the edge. Sorry.

I've heard that about the Philippines not having any D. So weird.

Yes, Muslim men can marry non-Muslims - it's a way of bringing them into the fold. But a Muslim woman marrying a non-Muslim is not allowed.

Is she religious at all? Does she wear a head scarf? Is she observing Ramadan (which is going on right now)?

My young French friend is an observant Muslim, he doesn't smoke or eat OR drink anything - even water, from sunrise to sundown during the month of Ramadan. He's also abstaining from sex (although, technically, as a single Muslim guy I don't think he's supposed to be having sex outside of marriage anyway, but I could be wrong about that).

So, WII - if she's at all observant, OR if her male relatives are, then dating her could be fraught with peril.

Oh man...it better be DRY there.

I'm in southern California now. But we've lived in so many places, from HOT but charming San Antonio, to the ICE COLD ARCTIC of Alaska, to the sticky humid deep south, to here. It's beautiful here.

True, We pay crazy high taxes, and we have insane traffic on a daily basis...

but I will NEVER complain about our weather.

It's Warm in the summer, but rarely is it blistering hot, and thank God, it's Never humid...Our winters are mild, with rain at about a third of what I grew up with on the east coast, and that's our "rainy season."

Why do I mention this?

b/c when we lived in Alaska, where the dark COLD winters wore me down in a bad way...

I SWORE I'd never whine or complain about weather again if we could just move south of the border.

Whether it was the COLD ass temperature of a wintry place, OR the "Geez it's just too dang hot here!!" I'd never complain, IF only we moved SOUTH of Canada...

so we did, and
