the first anniversaries are tough, but i passed the second without noticing. i realized it a few days after. i have to work to remind myself of x's bday so i can prep daughter. now all those dates mean nothing.
so it does get easier.
as far as the d crying at drop off, mine still does this on occasion, this morning at school in fact. and its still tough. i dont think the x has the capacity to think its about her though, in my case she probably finds a way to make it my fault. i gave up expecting her to ever see her fault in what our d goes through.
