Have you tried sabotaging the TV ariel so you don't get a decent reception for all that football?

And maybe stuffing some hard rocks under the sofa (couch) cushions?

There's was a great Gary Larson cartoon, showing a woman pulling up the cushions of her couch, and saying something like -

"Oh, there's that lost comb... and THAT'S were my husband's been..."!! (drawing of him having slid down behind the cushions)
