My D (also 2) just tried to push my head down on BF's leg (so we'd snuggle - which hasn't happened in gosh knows how long) she was INSISTING while we were reading her books. And he called it out. I moved away. But still....
I think these kids (at such a young age) understand A LOT more than we give them credit for.
My D was SO young when this started (16 mo bomb and 18 mo separated) that things are just beginning to change. Between the way she acted at the Dr. office last week to this morning, I can see that it is going to get tougher.
As she starts reacting to the situation, it is hard for it not to be a reminder of the hurt it is causing her.
That said, all we can do as parents is be there for them. Show them an example of a grounded, confident and strong human being.

Happiness is not something ready made. It comes from your own actions.
I agree, CS. I'm devastated about what this will do to D. D was my motivation to get my shite together FAST (okay, it took me a year or so, but still) ... I wanted us to really ROCK as a family - be great together. That was our promise to each other because of our childhoods. I think my BF seriously isn't thinking and is in his own fight or flight mode.
The kids definitely get hurt the most in these situations. It is terrible that their own parents are the cause of such pain.
Seeing the pain on my D8's face on Sunday when I put her on a plane to go to her mom brought out the most anger in. I could have spit fire.
Sorry CS, kinda highjacked your thread for a second. I know it has been a rough week for you as well, however you sound better. Definitely vent away.

Eh why the assumption that karma is gonna be bad. There can be good karma too!
Stay positive people!

My D13 had that... when she was done feeding, she'd intentionally leave milk in her mouth and actually sleep with it... Thankfully, D13's adult teeth are fine, but there was HUGE dental work when she was too young for that kind of stuff...
Not all kids do it, but a bottle with water to wash down the milk prior to bed time was recommended...
