Today was the day EHarmony was to run out. I got an email that they automatically renewed my one month subscription for $49.95.

I called and said I signed up for just one month. If I wanted to sign up additional months I would have chosen the three-month plan.

The girl on the phone nicely explained that the auto renew button was on and it was detailed several times during the subscription process that it needed to be turned off.

I'm pretty cautious with what money I have so I think I would have noticed it. I kept after her until I got a partial refund and one more month -- even though I didn't want it.

Just like people on the board said. After two weeks, I'd cycled through all of the compatible people close to me and the last two weeks there were just two matches and quite a ways away.

She said I needed to expand my available area to 60 miles to get more matches and give the process a year.

I told her I work three jobs and have my girls 45 percent of the time and wasn't interested in driving an hour to see someone.

She was very well trained. Sweet voice. Understanding. Trying to help me.

Still, I got a couple of bucks back.
