Thanks Mish, the memorial is in two weeks. I read my email wrong! Today my kids are leaving for Hong Kong with their Mom for three weeks. I'm driving them to the airport soon. I'll miss them!!!!
Well, that was a freakin' nightmare! What usually takes 30-40 minutes took 1.5 hours today. so settle in for this travel log. We're whizzing along the highway... at 20 km per hour due to road construction, I've got a kid in the back moaning "I'm gonna puke", then we miss the turnoff for the airport so we have to get off at the next major street, turn around and head back where we found NO exit to the airport. So once more we get off the highway and head for the on ramp going Westbound...which is closed!!!! I notice up the road a street that I'm familiar with and we head down a few more streets towards another ramp. the sign at the ramp entrance read "401 West closed" and in small print "this weekend" I was freaking out the realized it's not the weekend yet. So on we go to the highway and we're boxed in by trucks the rest of the way and therefore can't read the flippin' highway signs. But, having missed the exit the first time we didn't screw up again. Finally, we arrived. I dropped them at departures and said goodbye. If I tried to find the parking garage I'd probably still be there. OMG, did I mention I hate the airport...and road construction! Btw, no one puked.
No throwing up is always a good thing!! Glad you found your way and apparently didn't get lost on your way home. Get some rest and some ice cream and it will all be good.
hugs, kat

I just talked to Voldemort and apparently because she and the kids were so late arriving at the airport the airline had given their seats away. They were just in the process of closing off the flight. So, they bumped them up to business class and they had the flight of their lives... thanks to road construction and Dad missing the turnoff. So, if anyone needs a screwed up ride to the airport just let me know 'cuz I'm your man!
Thanks Cat. Well, it's been 10 days and that leaves 11 more to go. I miss my babies! I've been keeping busy though. Yesterday I went to Elvis in the Park for the afternoon and saw Zookeeper in the evening (fun movie...stupid as hell though!). Today I went to church and am meeting my best friend for dinner. It's hot here, about 35 degrees C and about 40 with the humidex but for a lot of you south of the border that would be an ordinary day, wouldn't it. That's my update.
I've got the week off and today decided to head to the race track. I haven't been to a horse race in probably 20 years! It's a great little track about 20 minutes from my place so today I decided to go. Yes, I hit the jackpot, won $12 on one bet. I spent most of the afternoon re-orienting myself to the racing game and then went for the gusto...a 2-1 horse going off at 5-1. So, after expenses: $2.50 for a program, $2 for a bottle of water and a victory dinner with my winnings I came out even for the day. I had a really nice day. I got to stand right at the finish line about 15-20 ft away from the horses as they crossed the line. Anyway, I realized later that this is one activity that I never did with Voldemort. I used to got to the races when I was in my early twenties and the odd time with my Mom and Dad but never with her. So this was my experience, just mine, no memories to contend with...and it was good!
