kermit, since you asked for specific advice... I also doubt that an intervention dinner will sway your H. The *best* that it can do is not push him further away and let him know how his kids feel. Done wrong though and it can alienate father and kids even more. I think if it's done it's more for the kids benefit to let him know they don't agree but that they still love him. Let them air their concerns.
It's tough on the whole family. It isn't fair, but it is what it is. Try to stay strong for yourself and your kids!
