I have not sent a sympathy card. I sent flowers with a short note a couple days after FIL's passing.

You know it's funny, I received a birthday card from MIL that said almost exactly that!

I thought it was a really nice card. To me made more sense than "HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! GET JIGGY WITH IT!!!"
