Thanks for the congrats folks! It is really wonderful to see her so involved in an activity like this. Yesterday she stayed for the remainder of the day to volunteer and is spending another 14 hours at the Club doing the same today. I'll pick her up in the evening as I help with clean up. W is helping with clean up tomorrow night and, of course, D13 wants to help too! So, it's not just ribbons and medals, it's belonging, friendships, developing discipline and an attitude towards life's ups and downs. She's there three times a week for 12 hours and you never have to push her out the door to go. I was so proud of her at the Ontario Championships two weeks ago, where she did not do well. Afterwords she said "I know I could have done better, I'll just have to work hard to get back here next year. Now, can we go to McDonald's" Wow, she just had her ass kicked in the competition of the year and that was her response. That in itself is worth the $350 per month! Ok, enough gushing about my kid! lol
I just finished doing the grocery shopping for a Mother's Day BBQ tomorrow. Wife phoned and wondered if I had any plans with my mother, which I did not except to drop over and see her tomorrow. She suggested a BBQ at her place. I did tell Mom to keep the day open earlier in the week. So, I said I'd go out and do the shopping and prep work and kids could do clean up afterwards. My motto is "Marinate to live, live to marinate". We're having chicken wings, salmon, grilled oysters, fish ball scewers, smoked turkey, corn , sweet potatoes and Cesar Salad...and I'm $100 poorer. Now, I just have to make sure my Mom can come! But, she's out right now so I'm going to head out and enjoy the nice weather for a bit too. Damn, I forgot dessert!
Sounds lovely. Get ice-cream for dessert ... quick and everyone loves ice-cream (unless they're lactose intolerent). My H isn't here tomorrow, and I doubt the kids at home will be doing anything for mothers day. I figure they're old enough now, not to have to be supervised.

Well, when I looked at the bills today, it's more like $150! The oysters were not a hit...even marinated overnight. Wife and I were the only ones to enjoy them! It was a wonderful evening. I ended up eating in the backyard so I could watch the BBQ and wife came out and joined me, so we ate at the patio table together while everyone else sat inside. They said it was too cold to eat in the backyard. It might have been 20 degrees C in the afternoon but the evening was a little chillier. I was afraid that when I went back to my apartment the smell of smoke on my clothes would set off the fire alarms! lol.
I'm at home with a virus today. I left work yesterday afternoon after starting to feel really weak. I've been fighting something for the last four or five days but thought I'd beaten it...slight miscalculation. Oh well, I haven't been sick in about six or seven months so I guess it's my turn. My prayer group last night was cancelled as half of us were ill. Both my kids have been sick too. Otherwise, nothing new and exciting on the Whatis front. I'm taking a few days off as vacation Thursday and Friday. We have a long weekend coming up as we celebrate Queen Victoria's birthday...why, I dunno! It's my Mom's birthday on Thursday so I'm hoping to meet up with her and do something. The weather [censored] here so my original plans to take her somewhere outdoors aren't gonna work out. Anyway, I'm resting up today and reading Dick Van Dyke's new autobiography. Later Dbers.
OK, I'm devastated! During my sick time I started reading Dick Van Dyke's autobiography...Mr. Morality, All-American Nice Guy. And yes, he also had an affair! Unbelievable, he talks like Jesse James and every other unfaithful spouse..."she understood me, liked what I liked, helped me through...it felt like it was meant to be" blah blah blah! That's it, no more biographies.
