One little mistake won't kill you. One thing I know after a year and half of this stuff, is that "no one thing means anything in my new normal".
That simple sentence has kept me grounded on many occasions. Act "as if" it was just a casual question, like it would have been in your previous normal, and it will be less of a deal to her. Don't make it into more than it is.
