I'll know by tomorrow, but it looks like I convinced my part-time boss to hire me full-time. So excited. I also have some freelance opportunities going and will continue those. It's been a stressful 5 weeks, but good. Final weekend of the musical this weekend.

I sent W roses on Valentine's, with "Happy Valentines Day, love Jon". I hadn't put my name or love on anything before, but want to test the waters. She e-mailed me a picture, and a great response text: "They're beautiful and simple just like I like them. Thank you".

We're still talking almost every day. When I ask what she's been up to today, she's usually not been feeling well. I stay upbeat but probably shouldn't ask that any more. Her weekends have been very busy with family coming in town sorting through GFIL's stuff. So, no chance for her to visit or me to go down there yet. I did invite her to the musical, but she said "I'm sorry, I can't". I could tell by the tone of her voice that she wanted to. Baby steps...

Started full-time on Tuesday. It's been great so far. Things keep warming up, got a nice text from W and chat Friday night. Now I need to go see her. My job is working completely remote, so nothing stopping me from going down there for a few days.

Time to take a chance and suggest this to W. Will post an update about how that goes.

Can't wait to hear how it goes Jon. Wait till you read my thread. Not getting any better at all, it was for a couple of months well back and forth but went way down yesterday.

I'm pulling and praying for you.

Great day at work today, I'm really starting to get this stuff. I also have my first, as we say in the web business, brick-and-mortar client. Things have been extremely busy, which is good.

Fantastic call from W last night, she called about 9:30 and I ducked out of Tuesday night bible study with the guys. She asked me about iPad 2, I'm so busy I forgot it was coming. Things seemed light and fun, so I took a breath and went for it:

Me: so, I've been thinking
W: Uh-oh, I can hear those red hairs burning
Me: It's been a long time since I've been down there
W: (pause) it has...
Me: So, would weekend or during the week work better for you
W: (hesitating a little) weekend would
W: I'm coming in to Dallas for a doctor's appointment soon
Me: Good! I'll look forward to that, and when I come I can make myself scarce if you need to have dinner with Aunt or anything. I have plenty of work to do.

I'm so encouraged. We'll see where it goes from here.

Interesting. Short talk with W last night, she sounded down. She called this morning and said she was working on some "financial stuff", and she needed to know my salary.

I asked her what she was working on, and she repeated "financial stuff". I gave it to her, but it felt weird. I got momentarily worried that she's filing again, and it just brought back old feelings of insecurity about finances. Which I'm handling so much better now and don't need to feel that way.

I do need to get rolling on our taxes. Missed the extension deadline in October for 2009. So, now I've got 2 years to do. I can't deal with it just yet, but need to soon.

Well, it is tax time. A lot of people are dealing with various financial things. Maybe she's considering going back to school or some such? Or applying for some type of medical coverage? Sometimes you can get drugs at a discount from the pharmaceutical company, but you have to fill out financial info to qualify. There's plenty of options out there.

Just remember. She doesn't have to call you. She didn't have to tell you she had a dr's appt soon.

While it's fine to prepare for the worst so you aren't blindsided, don't forget to hope for and work towards the best!

That's great advice Michelle. She didn't seem to want to tell me what's going on. Bringing up anything financial right now is a sticky subject, because I don't know what's going on with her inheritance. She's definitely having to be careful with her money, and has told me, for example, that she's waiting to get an iPhone until her finances are better. So they must have her on a fixed amount. My friend also told me that many times inheritance doesn't come until 30, which would be another 2 years for W.

All out of my control. I do need to focus on the positives, another one is that GFIL passing away and inheritance hasn't made a huge change in our relationship, which is what I was afraid of.
