Well personally I would ask my In laws about how they feel.

I visited my MIL and she still loves me. But my XW now refuses to talk to her out of her own guilt and shame (affair). Her mother was a strict Catholic and did not like what she did.

Its really up to you. Ask yourself this...what would your MIL want? Ask her now while she is still alive to get this out of the way with no questions from XH.
