Hospice can be in hospital (if the hospital you're in has the service) or at home but there is a time limit to how long the service can be provided using government money. That's my minimal understanding of the sitch. Mom has also told Dad he's not coming home unless he can get in and out of bed and get to the washroom himself. She's 75 years old, cannot lift him and nursing is provided for three hours per day. So, we'll take it one day at a time.
Just checking in on you wii. I read your last few posts, I'm so sorry it's something we all have to deal with at some point in our lives. I hope I have your strength when that time comes.

Thanks Romeo. I'm back on line as my computer is back and apparently in working order. This week my humidifier is the only devise to kick off, I see one thing as a successful week! I have a second humidifier so I rushed out to get a new filter for it but Sears didn't have any (they sell the humidifier but don't have the filters???). So, the associate tried to phone the company to find out where I could get a filter...but was disconnected twice. Finally, he took out a display model filter and gave it to me. I appreciated his effort and the free filter! Dad's doing OK, his Cancer doctor is back from vacation this week and will hopefully provide some quarterbacking for the team. Last week was discouraging as this specialist wanted to inject this and the surgeon wanted to do that and the fill in cancer specialist...well, totally confused Dad. Mom asked for some overview and was told "I'm a patient man so I'll tell you what I've already told you again", nice attitude! Mom asked about who decides about the G tube surgery and the doctor said "I can't tell the surgeon what to do" So who the F is running the case? Again, Dad's cancer doctor is back today and he's a great guy, good bedside manner and very caring so we'll see what he says. Today I'm off work as my stomach was upset all night. I got up and felt better but after trying to swallow some vitamins etc my breakfast came up. I think I just ate too much crap last night and the old gag reflex was in full working order this morning. I feel fine now but decided to hell with work for today because if I am sick I don't need to spread it and if I'm not I can use the time to get done all the things I haven't been able to get done last week at home...and there are lots! Yesterday we drove out of town to see D13 compete in the Ontario Qualifiers for gymnastics. She did well in all events finishing fourth on bars and fourth in overall performance. Nice job! Apparently she's going to the Ontario Championships but not due to her scores. There are a certain number of spaces allotted for her age group in the championships and there aren't enough kids to fill them this year so all the kids who are presently competing on this level and in her age group are in! The kids don't know this yet but they'll each get a shot at the Provincial Championships which is always a thrill no matter how you get there! So that's my update.
Sure am, Everhopeful! Yesterday was a snow day and in that time I found my license plate renewal form and a receipt for the boombox that died recently. I also got to gross out Kat with my historical knowldege, what more could a man ask for? Didn't visit Dad yesterday because D17 was in the midst of dumping her bf and I was dealing with the aftermath of that crisis. Last night he was begging to come back and be everything she wants him to be...gag! Ah, young love. She's gonna give him a chance but as of late last night was doubting that choice too. My Dad is doing well...for a terminally ill man. He's getting a barium Xray today to see whether food is travelling through his intestine. If it is the doctor will OK the Gtube surgery. We'll see. Tonight is Chinese New Year and my wife has invited me and the girls to go out for dinner. So those are my plans. Thanks for checking in!
Computer down! Computer down! Call for backup. Yes, after spending $200 to get my computer fixed it died again yesterday after one magnificient week. It's back to Staples tonight with my bill in hand. Maybe I should just buy a new one and the heck with this nonsense. Lately I've been using the time driving to and from the hospital to listen to books on CD I get from the library. I started listening to Joel Osteen's "It's Your Time" yesterday. I got a couple of gems from it this morning: "I am too blessed to be stressed" "where you're at is where the blessing is" "fear and faith both ask you to believe in something you can't see"
Just checking in on you...glad to see your dad's hanging in there and you're doing well.
Indeed, life goes on.
