Thanks B, angel and Jack ...

I'd heard of using a candle and watching the flicker, I like the idea of using incense ... thanks!

Pei, don't forget to have someone check your water heater. Mine was set up so high it was ridiculous for one person. Once it was turned down to a 'normal' temperature for the house, my electric bill dropped $40.00!!!!!!And I never missed a long hot shower one.

I, too, have the plastic shrink kits over my big windows. Electric blankets are a blessing, as well. You can lower the heat at night and still stay toasty.

Hi PEI

It still amazes me how similiar all of our sitches are. I am catching up with you and reading about your heating oil/wood. I have propane at my house and also burn wood. I have been lucky in that my H is making good of his promise to provide wood for us so far...

Does your church have any temporary relief programs?
Any neighbors/friends/relatives that can cut and haul wood for you?

The electric blankets are a wonderful idea and they do have really good space heaters out now!

On the part time job....I am working every other weekend at a local restaurant...they had no problem with me working that schedule! They are out there...you will find something!

I hope and pray things will all come together for you!

T,

You can call your bank and arrange for interest only payments on your mortgage for a few months until you get back on your feet.

That way you stay current on your mortgage.

I've done this several times thruout the past year.

Thanks all of you for your support ... this board has been a life saver, in so many ways.

I have started the p/t job hunt and am pretty sure I will have 3 - 4 cord of wood by the weekend. I've sent an email to my mortgage guy to see about interest only payments and I'm going over my budget with a fine tooth comb to see where I can make some cuts.

I feel good. Hopeful. Back in the saddle.

Thank you. All of you.
Peace,
PEI

PEI,

I'm fairly new to the board. Have been making some connections here and there.
Started my own thread for my own story and journaling- Piecing via Shoots and Ladders in MLC section.

THANK YOU for this thread! I've only read your 1st and 2nd post- dated 10/28/10......I'm ready to hear it.
I've been stuck in anger and depression. I'm getting tired of anger and depression. It's time to move on.

I look forward to reading this thread. I've been following another posters story, so I still need to keep reading...
OMG I have to get to work though! LOL

Hi all ... so an update on my sitch ...

I got the heating oil delivered last Tuesday, and I’ve checked it and we’ve burned through about ½ already ... so I’m paying for another ½ tank tomorrow to be delivered this week. I had a cord of soft wood delivered today and another coming tomorrow (apparently dry hardwood is hard to find this time of year, go figure wink ) ... and potentially another cord and half maybe next weekend. This should get me through until at least the end of February, and maybe into March depending on how cold it gets (we’ve had a cold snap, it’s been -31 with the wind chill here for the last few days!).

So, due to all of that ^^^ I can’t make my mortgage payment on February first ... I’ve emailed the guy and he’s slow to correspond and not being extreemly cooperative (deferred payments are not an option, and I’m not sure on the interest only). So, I asked my sister (a law student and prosecutor in a large Canadian city) to look into what the consequences are. Technically the mortgage is not in my name yet and we have a rental agreement until I assume the mortgage ... so, that being said if I don’t pay on February 1st, they can give me notice of intention to evict on February 2nd. IF they do that, I have 10 days in which I can pay the rent/mortgage in full and they can not evict me. So IF that happens, I will borrow the money from someone to make it happen. If they work with me, I will pay it in four small chunks throughout the month (hopefully, I am robbing Peter to pay Paul now ... trying to find part time work to suppliment my income).

I’ve also closed up some drafty doors, put kits on a couple of windows, bought a couple of small electric heaters to take the edge off so I can leave the thermostat turned down ... and ... my favorite .... my mom’s idea ... used pantyhose to cover by dryer vent so the heat isn’t vented outside! LOL!

The kids and I have been really sick this weekend (head colds and then a really nasty 8 hr stomach bug) and I got a speeding ticket on my way to work this morning (totally my own fault I know!!!) but all in all I feel better ... scared and unsure of what’s around the corner but at least I’m trying to be proactive and prioritizing ...

StbxH called to tell me he didn’t have the money he thought he would to help with wood (no anger or disappointment because I had no expectation smile ) and then instead of making the calls he promised to make I started to get texts with potential phone numbers etc (again, whatev!) ... and I made the calls and have a couple of cords of wood this week. He still says he’ll come good for part of the wood, and if he does ... bonus! But I’m not counting on it. He did come get the kids yesterday when he found out how sick I was and all in all we are getting along really well. I’m glad I can show my children how it is to treat someone with respect and take the highroad ... my choices are not based on what he’s done but who I am and who I want to be.

So, in a nutshell ... I have a tight and rough couple of mos ahead of me, but if I juggle wisely and make some really good choices I should be back on top in a few months.

Thanks to all of you for your support and friendship smile

Peace
PEI
