What did your coach recommend? Keep doing that--whatever it is, and try to detach from his reaction at this time. Just monitor what he does.
In one sense, the board is skewed. People who are fairly quickly successful do not stay on the board for the most part (we do have folks who do stay to give back, but most do not). So don't let that discourage you. Look around and see the successes that are here and learn from them.
