Thanks OT. He told me yesterday that he listened to the CD in the morning and was very teary. He loves to sing. So I opened up the hymbook beside his bed, picked out a hymn and we sang it together.
Today I have a new adventure which has absolutely nothing to do with dying...nice change, eh! I call it "Whatis's Incredible Sony E-book Reader Adventure" and here we go, strap on your seat belts folks. It was a sunny day when Whatis finished his third cup of coffee and decided to contact his friends at Sony. Recently I purchased an e-book reader that said on the box "$25 coupon for Reader Store" yet my box did not have one in it. I contacted Sony and they advised me to go to the store I made the purchase from and get it from them. OK, today is the day! I'm ready. So off I go and once I reach the store I'm told they don't have that model in stock but can refund my money if I want. I do not want. They send me to another store which has the model I purchased in stock. Perfect. At this store they give me the coupon and off I go home. Hooray! At home I enter in my coupon code and it is rejected. I look at the coupon and it expires on March 1/10. Umm, this was not the nirvana I anticipated. So I email my Sony Support Buddy and told him I want my $25 credit anyway as the box does not specify any time limit and therefore I made a purchase with misleading information. I also mentioned the fact that Sony Support had instructed me to go to the store and get an EXPIRED coupon...and that makes me a very sticky little rice ball! So SSB says send us a scan of your bill and either a photo or scan of the coupon (how the hell do you photograph a coupon so that anything can be read?). I responded that I didn't have a scanner but provided the coupon code. SSB has now created an "event code" (hooray, we've got an event going now!)for me and transferred my issue to the correct department who will then be in touch.
So DBers, stand by and watch as Whatis brings that Japanese giant Sony to it's knees, beats the living sushi out of it...or just gives up. The best is yet to come.
Gotta go cook dinner and head to prayer meeting...I'll bet you're kind of thanking the Lord for that, eh!

Well, at least you got an 'event' ticket! Of course, I got a 'repair ticket number' for my new TV 3 weeks ago and still nothing. I have a 46" LCD sculpture in my living room. frown

I'm doing quite well, Kat. I'm visiting Dad every day and tomorrow I've been invited to church for a luncheon which I'm thinking of attending. Dad's up and walking once per day and the physio people tell me about his determination and sense of humour. We've talked briefly about funeral arrangements and he's told me about the two Ministers he wants to be there but that's about it. I told him I'd like to see his choir there to sing one of his favourite hymns and he'll need to tell us what that would be. I've been thinking about a eulogy and I want to entitle it "Sh!t My Dad Said" and anyone who knows my Dad would not be offended. Today he said "I'm not afraid to die, I just don't want to" I'm with you Dad. The other day he said "I'm not a perfect man, I've tried to live a good life. I don't intentionally hurt other people, I try to do what's right but I don't always succeed. Do you know how many times I've said "sh!t" in my life?" He's got a bunch of them. My favourite is on Christmas day, three days after hearing his life was coming to an end and the day after a heart attack, he said to me "I am so blessed" That's a keeper!
Thanks for checking in Kat. I'm thinking of going to True Grit tonight but at this rate I'll never make it.
Btw, I've now got a Quaker pastor from Indiana praying for Dad. What the heck, I was missing that Quaker ingredient to the mix.

I forgot to mention that in my travels today I picked up a new calender to take to work next week, Sock Monkey 2011. Yes, a different Sock Monkey for each month of the year, who could ask for anything more in a calender?

Your dad is so cool, Wii! His comment about not being afraid to die, is just classic. It's funny that I was thinking similar things to him, when I thought I might die two years ago. Well, we all will die, but .... well, you know. None of us are perfect. Some, however, are less defective than others.

Go sock monkeys! Woohoo!

Wii, thanks for sharing some great quotes from your dad. One that touched me was:

"I'm not a perfect man, I've tried to live a good life. I don't intentionally hurt other people, I try to do what's right but I don't always succeed. Do you know how many times I've said "sh!t" in my life?"

Boy can I relate to that! and funny too!

Tonight I was driving home from seeing my Dad and this song came on the radio. I must have needed that cry, thank you Lord!
