Have you thought of starting friendly contact with her that's short? Just one not 100s? Your overkill before probably scared her off. I don't think you have to adopt an all or nothing attitude. Contacting her once in a while may be okay. You have to start the communication somehow. Or let it stem from when you are talking about the kids. No one can talk about their kids and be emotionally out of it. Your kids are people not pieces of property.
