Showing good manners toward the H is not a big concern for most WAW's. When you consider these other strange things she's doing, I believe it just doesn't come that high in her order of importance.
I don't know that using a microscope is a good idea. I understand what you're saying about the baby steps, but so much of that other stuff shows up when magnified.
It is not about what you feel should work in your M. It is about doing the work that gets the right results. Do what works!
