TSA hired a bunch more people. Never said they had to pass the brightest crayon in the box test!
In flight attendant recurrent training each year they did show a lot of weapons that people were really trying to take on the plane. Knives, guns, pretty much you name it. Ok, so some of them have a bit of a glow.
