If you would like to get a hold of me ... fitness_mood at hm

I'm sure I'm going to be kicked off one day for being in contact with people out side of bb. Oh well.

It's just that one gets to start talking about other stuff of interest (esp. those of us who have been here for years, and know the ins and outs of our M's) ... we are people behind the virtual name, after all, and our dysfunctional M's isn't all that we are.

Being: It's like we're all going to be "bad children" and talking to each other is going to cause a catastrophe or something. I think it is ridiculous to think that of adults.

Anyway - we all owe so much to this bb for helping us in so many ways but if I hadn't found the "real" people here to talk to - to support and be supported - not sure how I would have SURVIVED!

Oh well - feel free to add me if you can figure mine out.

Last night I went to the Presbyterian church for a prayer meeting. Actually, it was bible study and prayer meeting. The Pastor took us through some passages from Mathew and we discussed the symbolism. The other four group members were very nice and welcoming, also really old! Next week we're having apple cider and mince meat tarts. I can't attend this church on Sunday this week but will go the next Sunday and check out their morning services.
So Being Me, how come you didn't become a Bahai? They believe God sends prophets at different times to highlight specific messages and Jesus is considered one of them. They believe that Bahaullah was the last prophet but there will be others. It's an interesting faith which appears quite liberal but is actually rather conservative in the fact that they oppose sex outside of marriage, alcohol use (if I recall), homosexuality etc. They're OK with marrying outside the faith though. Anyway, just a thought.

I just called my parents and apparently they were at the hospital emerg yesterday. They went to Dad's doctor and he felt Dad was too dehydrated and sent him to the hospital. Luckily, my brother is on holidays for the next few weeks and was able to take them. The emerg referred him to a gastro specialist, who refused to take the case unless he is referred by his family doctor so Dad has to go there tomorrow. It's all politics, doctors not wanting to tread on each others toes. Needless to say Dad's frustrated and aside from this he sat in emerg for 3.5 hours! The puking and runs have gotten worse lately and his doctor says the pill he's taking just isn't working. So, he's off to the family doctor again tomorrow to get referred and hopefully won't have to wait a month or more for an appointment. If worse comes to worse we'll take him back to emerg and get him admitted, then they'll have to deal with him! Once he's admitted Mom can refuse to take him back until they've done something.

No, they gave him IV fluids but then gave him the name of a gastro specialist who wouldn't take him, apparently without a referral from his family doctor. You see, another gastro doctor at the hospital had assisted in the gastroscopy and colonoscopy he had a few weeks ago so they don't want to tread on his toes even though Dad is not a patient of this doctor nor has he ever seen him. It's all nonsense! So a sick 79 year old man has to run through the hoops, go figure. On Wednesday, while sitting 3.5 hours in the emerg, they got to witness an elderly man, who came in with shortness of breath and sat there for two hours, have a heart attack in the waiting room. What more can you say!

Shortness of breath and they made him sit for 2 hours without attention? Do you see why I'm SO against socialized medicine??? Here, if you are having any trouble breathing they clear the decks and put you in a trauma room immediately. That is horrible! Poor man.

Hope your dad is better soon and can work his way through the red tape and bruised egos. frown

I hope you dad is feeling better. It is so hard watching them be sick.

Ice cream is always such a good cure for what ails you. I better get mine today because it is going to be really cold this next week!
