Honestly, I told him he was a butt! It could just be as friends even if she wants more right now. I felt so terrible for her, especially after she put herself on the line like that.
As far as like us, I meant sometimes too afraid to get hurt, so we don't put ourselves out there.

Well now he has to work anyway since it was too late to ask off, but still he could have been nicer. I think he should have said if I am off sure but the request deadline has passed, no promises.
I guess he will learn to be more tactful later but still. I could have hit him upside his head last night!

I'm actually a bit proud of him for not going with her if he really didn't want to. I just hope he did it tactfully, especially since she did go all out. That part sounds like he wasn't too smooth...
"Wow, that is so flattering and nice that you asked me. I wasn't expecting it (kat - sounds like she told you about it so you could give him a heads-up, or test the waters or something...?). But, I don't think I would be the best guy to take you to this dance, I'm sorry." And of course, he pulled her aside, out of sight from his friends, and made sure she had an opening to escape/save face......?
Learning experience for both of them. Better to do it as a teen than as us old foggies!
She wanted to surprise him so wow, I actually kept a secret. He did talk to away from the group of us ( me, her mom and all of his sibs and his best friend). He did say they could hang out some so I hope that helps. Just not an easy situation. I guess better to learn now.

Crazy weekend. I replaced my phone battery, made my first chocolate cheese cake from scratch and made homemade laundry soap for the first time. It worked really well. . Then I started a pot roast. Resting before I go to bookclub.

I feel bad for her too. Of course, she should probably learn to deal with rejection sooner than later.
