Hey Pie,

I look at the offers to help out as being guilt driven or maybe looking for that ol' security blanket. I no longer see it as an atempt to return home or a sign of ANYTHING more.

In my H's case he usually follows through when it involves money. He usually just puts it on the ol' charge card though. Monopoly money is easy to pass out when you are in MLC land.

On your telescope, maybe you could start saving for it yourself? Even just $10 a week in a jar. Don't know how many weeks it would take, but at the end of that time you would have it all on your own. Your H's opinion wouldn't be so important then.

Hey 25,

I put some books by that author on hold at the library. Thanks for the recommendation. I still have a long road ahead of me.

I have been working hard to let the in-laws off the hook for a while now. I am glad that I did that too. I had to be the one to reach out, but they "left the door open" for me too. Everyone is hurting, not just me.

Older SIL let her kids know about the separation last night. I had told her to because D3 is starting to talk about having 2 homes. I didn’t want them to be blindsided and I didn’t want D3 to be hurt unintentionally if they weren’t aware. Oldest niece was most upset. Going to see them tonight with D3 for Disney Princesses on Ice. Good to get that over with before TK-day tomorrow.

All this pain so my H can "be happy." Saddest part is knowing he won't find it this way. No one truly finds joy by hurting others. It only comes by choosing joy wherever you are.

HI Pie,

The telescope thing is cool. Just put together one we had brand new in the basement for many years last week. Never got aroung
to assembling it because of time but now without W being here we mysteriously do have time for this kind of stuff.

My sons all loved it. It is not huge or anything but we could see Jupiters moons easily and the Pleiades star cluster which looked awesome.

What Model/Manufacturer would you be saving up for? I am just
curious and would encourage you to make it a goal too.

Just one of those fun times that the W missed out on again.

not to hijack but Pie, I would LOVE to see you buy AND USE that telescope and say nothing to your h...I mean somehow indirectly let him know you got it and love it, but say nothing about his empty promises...b/c that's all it was. Cant' believe he bothered to "un promise" though. Like you had to hear that? Geez...

Happy T=Day anyhow!

I have an Orion 8 inch Dobsonian, they can sometimes be gotten off Craigs List fairly cheap, or online also. Probably about $350-$450. It's nice to just pop out to have a look without much setup.

I also have a Meade ETX125 with Autostar computer. Those are great for doing a lot of looking around but takes time to orient the computer.

Kids always love seeing things the first time. Even though the images are small, SEEING Jupiters moons night after night as little stars that are different each night is much more impressive than pictures are.

Pleades are very cool. Did you know that 'Subaru' is the name the Japanese gave to that star group? Take a look at the logo for Subaru. Look familiar? wink

Glad to see another astronomy enthusiast!

Yes, oops!! Sorry for the hijack Zen! smile

I like your idea! And yes 25! I think I'm going to start a piggy bank! I WILL have a telescope!

Warrior - Yes, my S4 is very intersted in space too, so I think if I had one set up for him and I, he'd be just as enthusiastic as me smile I was wanting a celestron or meade, was hoping for something compact - shmidt cassegrain, as I'm in the city(lights), so would like to be able to shlep it out away from the city sometimes...Its so cool that you and your kids use it...I can't wait smile

Frank_D - glad you mentioned the autostar thing, I was wondering about it, thought that would be really awsome, but maybe its better to learn to search 'manually' then?

Subaru - I had no idea! I love bits of trivia like that smile

Sorry for the hijack again Zen!!!

Got to go with my D3, SIL-1 & 2 of the older nieces to Disney on Ice. We had a blast. Lucky to be there and still know we are all family. I am blessed.

H's night night call was durring the show, so we missed it & D3 fell asleep in the car so we didn't call him back. When we got home I let him know she had heard his message before falling asleep but it was too noisy to call back and that we had fun. He texted back that was good & would see us tomorrow.

Resisted urge to text back. Nothing to say really. Nice to get a response from him though. Usually just get silence.

Got to crash now. Going to sleep in, then prep green beans to take to SIL-1's house for TK dinner.

Got my beans preped and I'm getting ready to head over to my SIL-1's house for turkey.

Feeling good. Not worried about H. I can take whatever he dishes out. Going to enjoy my day.

Happy Thanksgiving ya'll!
