WAH is spending Thanksgiving day with our daughter and myself. This is the first holiday we've spent with our daughter, but also just with us b/c we usually have to go out of state or somewhere. I'm very excited that he has agreed to spend the day with us. My DB coach suggested I try to encourage some sort of tradition to start with our daughter, since this is her first TG, but without making him feel like he has to be living there to be part of the tradition but to possibly make it something he will want to be part of--KWIM? So, any ideas would be appreciated. I'm not coming up with very good ideas!

My daughters and I have always seen movies on the holidays. That has been a fun tradition. (I divorced 16 years ago, pre-DB, my daughters were 2 and 7.) This year one of them has to work, so she and I are going tonight.

That is a good idea, but our daughter is only 7 months so that wouldn't work this year. It's something to think about for the future, though! Thanks!

Make it about her....Even though she won't understand that you are building traditions...

Maybe start with the Parade ?

Love the idea of the Parade ... it can be a go together, or meet you there kinda deal. So very little pressure. Plus, kids love parades and lots of oppportunities for you both to enjoy her face when it lights up.

Thanks....good ideas. We don't have a parade in our town, but could always watch the Macy's Parade! I've thought about suggesting we go buy her own special Christmas tree that she gets a new ornament for each year?? What do you think?

Like the ornament idea. I am trying to get a special ornament every year that represents that stage of life they are in. The first year is easy......"Baby's First Christmas". grin

I like those where you can insert their picture and it would even be better if it has the year on it.

It is not about what you feel should work in your M. It is about doing the work that gets the right results. Do what works!
