Kitti- FYI - just so you know, the influenza that is going around now is supposed to be a typeA influenza. We actually have an antiviral drug for influenza called amantadine - it's been around for about 20 years. If started in the first 48 hours or so, it can lessen the severity and duration of influenza. Typical symptoms of influenza are sudden onset, high fevers (101-104), body aches (usually severe in adults, a little less so in kids), headache, cough. If you thinks that's what the kids have, you might want to call your doctor.
Normally I wouldn't bother with amantadine in my normal healthy kids, but these reports of child deaths this season have me a little concerned - both my boys now have the flu, and I've put them both on amantadine.
