I saw my new IC on Friday. She's a keeper. She told me a couple of things that were helpful.

First off, she told me she could help me, because I want to be helped.

My homework is to stop pursuing him (which is what EVERYONE has told me), but she said that every time I pursue him I am giving him another opportunity to reject me and that just makes me feel worse.

She also told me that there are 8 types of intimacy, and listed them and asked how many of those did my husband and I have?

She said that a starving person will eat out of a trash can. After she said this she told me that she was not saying that to justify my behavior, but then she went on to say this...

Humans are born with 3 needs that they cannot live without:

Food
Water
Being Wanted - then she went on to prove her point by stating that babies who are not "wanted" i.e., loved, touched, hugged, kissed, held, etc have lower birth weights, do not thrive, become ill, etc. She said that that last need never goes away even when we are adults.

I see her again later this week.

I am completely exhausted today. Wish I could have stayed in bed.
