Agreed, C2 sounds like she's overwhelmed and unsure. I'd go with Kerry's reply too or in order to not be too brief something like "hey C2, thanks for the reply. No worries, I completely understand and I hope things ease up soon. Maybe some other time! have a good day! :)"
Re: C1- I'm the other guy with the pitch fork instead of the wings. Go have a friggn' good time. You don't have to go out with her again. For this one time just truly think of her as your friend/wing-man.
