I'm sitting at my desk listening to the jets flying into our local airport here for the Great Georgia Airshow. It's a HUGE event every year and draws massive crowds to our small city. Marc, being in the Civil Air Patrol, will be working it both days. They handle security for the FBO and the hangars. He's thrilled that he gets to see more fighters up close. Last weekend he and the drill team went up to Dobbins AFB to the uniform store to get some accessories they all needed and then to the parade grounds to practice their drill. While there they got in a C130 and sat in the cockpit, checked out the various parts of the plane. To top that off they saw one of the new generation C5 Galaxy jets land and take off. He was blown away by it and has decided he wants to do that!!! GOOD HEAVENS!

It will be a busy couple of weekends with the airshow and then the trip to DC. I hope I survive it!!! LOL

Let Gabe be your partner... You aren't alone in managing this stuff unless you choose to be.

Oh, he's helping plenty. He's taking care of my mom while Marc and I go to DC! I'm eccstatic and ever grateful. He's really being more help than I could have ever hoped for.

Mish, I'm so happy to hear how well things are going for you! I hope you have an awesome time on your trip to DC! Sometimes I think a break from real life is exactly what's needed!

My weekend was busy busy busy. Running all over town with Marc for the airshow and then getting everything in order for next weekend. Mom is freaking out on me about my leaving. She doesn't like it when I'm not at her beck and call. Oh well......too bad for her. She'll have to get over it. LOL

You are probably right. Like I've said before, I stopped expecting anything from anyone a LONG time ago. What happened to no expectations? LOL.

I think it works like this. We have no control over other people, so we can't actually demand anything from them. They are free to meet our requests or not. But if they don't, we don't have to have them in our lives. It's boundary setting.

E.g. the friend who never brings cash, always needs you to cover her at group dinners and is flaky about paying you back. You CAN expect her to bring cash, but you'll be disappointed. But you can also tell her that you expect her to either start bringing cash or pay you back timely and if she doesn't, there can be consequences (maybe you aren't friends anymore, or maybe you just refuse to cover her anymore).

It's the same here. You can't demand that he do these things, but someone who is living with you and sleeping with you should help out. If he wasn't, then it would be okay to say he needs to go somewhere else LOL.

Where expectations get us into trouble is when we expect others to fill all our emotional needs, when we get demanding and clingy when they don't meet our expectations instead of asking for what we want knowing full well that they can say no if they so choose. It's okay to ask for things. smile
