A whole weekend plus went by without the boards and that was just weird! Thank heavens it wasn't when I was crazed and suicidal a couple of years ago! I feel bad for the newbies who were cut off though. The beautiful people I have met on these boards have saved me more times than I can count.
I have something fun and exciting coming up! It's a bit of a stretch financially, but I'm making it work.
I'm taking Marc to Washington DC (finally!) 15OCT-17OCT. It's going to be whirlwind and busy but we are so excited. I got my AirTran tickets free (thank heavens for one perk of the industry that still exists until Southwest takes them over) and a FABULOUS travel agent rate on a 4 star hotel on Capitol Hill (my kid has never stayed anywhere less than a 3 star...spoiled kid!) and all the museums are, of course, free. I hope my foot holds up through all the walking.
FYI - Did you guys know you can now get advance tickets for going up in the Washington Monument (through the National Park service) and reservations for the tour of the Capitol building through their website? The last time I went we had to wait in lines forever in the hopes that we would get a spot. Just some info for you if you go!

Actually, I think Youppi!, the mascot was more popular with the French than the team...and there was a rumour that he was gay...not that you or anyone else really cares but, then again, that's what I'm here for, to bring the most useless and irrelevant information possible to as many DBers as possible. I did not know that. I knew that if you had a responsive Congressman, they could arrange *special* tours and such quite easily. Did that.

Sounds like it's going to be an amazing trip! I've only been once, it was quite expensive between plane tickets, hotel, subway passes, entrance to museums and such, but SO worth it.

We honestly don't have time for arranging a White House tour. Marc is determined to see both Air and Space museums and that is going to take nearly an entire day especially since it's going to take us over an hour each way just to get out to the big one by Dulles Airport. Subway to motorcoach to van transfer. CRAZY!

I say you just overthrow the government and then take your own tour of the White House and after that re-paint it a real colour...let's say purple...doesn't "The Purple House" sound so much better! Then let the whole city spray paint graffiti on the walls, but only if your schedule allows for it before heading home. Sound good?
