No, you don't NEED to do that. That's what attorneys are for.


What worked in my situation was my W and I spoke about the custody. When she intially left we split them 50/50.

When we spoke 6 months later she tried to get M-F and give the weekends. I wouldn't budge, telling her I like the 50/50 and we should keep the same schedule.

I am OK with you talking to W about the kid's schedule as long as you can do it without emotion and with talking about anything else.

That's what worked for me.
