D8 and I mostly had a good night. At the end, when it was time to either work on a report or go to sleep there was a bit of a meltdown. Eventually, we settled in to work on the report -- but she didn't have the questions for the report.
Oh well. It's not due until Friday so we'll work on it Wednesday.
My first choice for the Saturday event turned me down. She had a legitimate reason. Her mom turns 70 Saturday and there's a big family event. I'm not discouraged. I'll likely ask her again if another opportunity comes up.
So I put in a call to a 35-year-old from my church growth group. She was out so I left a message for her to call me back. Hopefully, it works out. If not, I'll just go by myself. Two rejections would be enough this time.
Funny, driving to work today I had the nervous/hopeful/fearful feeling I had in my 20s when I was working up the courage to ask someone out.
Weird having that feeling again. Part of the reason people stay married even if they aren't happy is to avoid rejection.
More emotional ups and downs. I set the date to move in to the new house (yeah). That means I need to send a message to STBXW that I want to come over and get the final four things that once belonged to my mom. I want everything back that belonged to my family pre-marriage.
* Those are a corner cabinet that was part of my grandmother's dining room set.
* A George Washington statue that has been in the family since the 1800s. Don't know why I left that behind.
* The outdoor patio table and chairs. My mom bought that the summer before we married. She died that fall and we kept the set.
* The wedding and engagement rings. They belonged to my grandparents, who were married for 52 years.
This is tying me up in knots for some reason. One, it'll either spark a phone call or more activity on the D front. Two, it's another emotional step on the path to the end.
The first three things I'm guessing are no problem. The rings, though, may be. She hasn't said anything about them since we met in March to try to reach an agreement. That day she said she was going to bring them but she "forgot."
I'm worried she's keeping them as a negotiating chip.
