I agree that this is a good thread and helpful for the less technically inclined who may not even know where to begin in how to gather intel and what products to use.
I love the Skype idea and it never occurred to me to use it that way. Two microphones that are not that expensive but are highly rated on Amazon are Samson Go Mic and Blue Microphone Snowball . I can't vouch for either one of these products but I'm leaning towards the Samson.
For those of you who use(d) variable voice recorders in cars, how did you deal with road noise? Did you post process or did the recorders you bought have the ability to adjust microphone sensitivity. Did the $40.00 recorders at Walmart really work well?
