Yes, you should feel elated, NNP. When you feel good on the inside it shows on the outside. I am proud of you!!!

so I filed... H was served... He always said he didn't want this to be ugly, but divorce is ugly.

I know this is the right thing for me to do and I am finally able to do it. I don;t have any idea how things are going to work out or what life will look like, but I know it will be better than this.

NNP - you are so right about this. We can play nice, be as pleasant as we can throughout the process, but in the end we have a piece of paper that says Plantiff versus Defendant that replaces a paper that speaks of being united. At least you are moving forward towards a happier life for yourself. Wishing you the best!

Good luck with the process! My advice is listen to your lawyer!!!!! At least I think you have some things in your favor....like getting half your H's retirement is part of the military rules....not something you have to negotiate with your H. I know you will make sure the boys are taken care of, but don't forget about yourself!!!!!!!

(((NNP))) Sounds like you're feeling empowered and coming to terms with the unknown. None of it is comfortable or easy. And I for one, really, really wish it was. I have to stop wishing. You are starting a new life and that's awesome!

Thanks for checking in everyone smile I am actually beginning to be able to see the possibility that I will get through this and be better off for it.

One step closer... tonight I went to the required 2-hour parenting class. That was sobering and a little humiliating.
