You know, it's funny. If the market turns, and I can sell my noose, I mean house, I might well look at some of the retirement communities around here. A lot of them are on golf courses!
Exactly! The neighborhood 9 hole course I play at a lot is a 55 and over neighborhood. But when I turn 55, I will have an S15 and D13 which would disqualify me from having a house on that course so as to get the free golf balls that go out of bounds into my yard.
I thinned a shot out of a bunker that line-drived across the green and hit an old ladies metal patio table - making a lot of noise. She came out and said that was the first time she had been home when her house got hit. She was cool about it and I was rather embarrased.
I agree--the 9s are worse than the 0s -- I think it is the anticipation of being done with a decade, but when you hit the new one, you get a whole new 10 years. Though a senior at 50, good grief!
But don't know about men handling it better, my H was a basket case at the end of his 30s and now, we always celebrated his "1/2" birthdays, because regular birthdays were so hard. I'm sure that should have been a sign!
