Last year my BIL (Dan's younger sis was my HS locker partner, we are still friends!), who is British, took his "British Foods" store to the Ren Fest in Des Moines. He had a store selling dry goods (Heinz Beans, biscuits, jams, etc), and then a food stand with curries, bangers/mash, etc. First curry I ever ate and it was outstanding!
Anyway SIL and I worked the dry goods tent, and had to wear period costumes. It was actually quite fun.
I haven't gone in about 8 years. I am leaving it up to the boys but hinting that it would be fun. This weekend has a pirate theme added in. Arrgghh. lol

What is so cool about a Renaissance Festival for the Goth folks? It seems that a Dark Ages festival would be more appropriate.
The kids and I are on a quest over the next 2 days to find some pirate outfits since the 2 day Portland Pirate Festival is this weekend. The festival is going to try and re-break the world record for most pirates gathered in one place. They got the record last year, but since then, a Brit town has obliterated it. It looks like 7000 is what they are shooting for, but I am not that optimistic that there are that many scurvy dogs in the Portland area.
I so got a laugh last year when the pirate guys would refer to their woman as a "wench".
Are you not supposed to do that unless you're a pirate?

Oh, IR, you are cracking me up here...btw you also should avoid saying "No, that dress does not make you look fat. Your big belly and butt make you look fat."
I think we are having the fun now Michelle! I am planning for this coming weekend if I can get the boys on board.
BobbieJo that was too funny! lol You got me thinking of Baby Got Back when Ross and Rachael sing it to their baby Emma to make her laugh(Friends of course).
