I don't think low self esteem purposely hurts other people whereas narcissism definitely does.
I'd go easy on the arm-chair phsychiatrist stuff with that handy DSM,
If he was a narcissist, I doubt he'd even be here, let alone beating himself up over and over.
His first wife dumped him. Wife 2 was a rebound, and the rest is what we see here. He's got some work to do, but I don't think we need to peg him with a personality disorder.
