There has to be some kind of pattern that ticks him off. Topic, time of day, alcohol, stress, politics, weather...

Oh and now he's making jokes commenting on my FB.

I can remotely relate to that.

Even though I am pre-FB generation, I do remember being an elitist before I realized how toxic that really is.

I never realized that I was actually hurting someone's feelings. To me it was natural - teaching the uninformed was how I felt. I thought I was doing a good thing.

Soooo, wrooong.

Sounds very important.. As important as how they feel.

TH, insecure? I think so. The rest - either no or I don't know.
pookie, stress more than likely.

Probably other things too. It's just REALLY hard to tell what set him off when we communicate only through email - I can only base it on our conversation. There possibly was something else happening, something stressful at work, anything really and I just wouldn't know.

I don't really know if he realizes that his comment hurt me, it might be what you say pookie or he might be trying to cover up for it now.

So the more you talk the more condescending and rude he gets? Let him know how that makes you feel and the consequences if he continues - boundary. Why enable the CB?

I wouldn't say that the more we talk the more like that he gets. We talked today and once he came up with that line he didn't say anything more. Which now that you mention that is not usually what he does if he gets angry, he would just go on until I stop the conversation. That's why I said that I don't know whether I could even call it a fight...

As it came out from my conversation with FMV, I want to talk to him and tell him that I don't appreciate CB when fighting and especially not the lack of owning up to it after. But I wanted for the hostility to ease off before attempting that talk so that's why I didn't yet.

No news today. I've been at a training the whole day and didn't have access to the computer... but once I got home it turned out that no one missed me :P
