It's just very holistic present perspective not unlike some strains of Buddhism, and I tend to find it confusing too

It's as if all of time--past, present, & future--are collapsed into the present, and then there's heavy use of metaphore.

I'm more of a C, F and G-7th guy I guess. Probably why I like Thorogood so much.
