"Wow you want to go scuba and you don't know the difference between them??".

Yeah, that's a bit of a put down. Wonder where that came from?

Is he insecure? Arrogant? Low blood sugar? Dog chew up his shoes? Not enough alone time?

I would answer, "Yep, I want to go scuba diving, and I don't know much about it or snorkeling. That's the point.".

That would be true in my case: I want to go scuba diving some day, and I don't know a danged thing about it, but I know I had better hire somebody who does and get certified before I go off on my own

I want to go to China and India too Don't know much other than what I've read about them either.
