found it! For those interested in the book Gardener mentioned, not the Zappa book,
But I liked the Zappa book. It's full of useful stuff like "Coffee is a food group", and "Why pop music is doomed to ever decreasing intervals of nostalgia, and why some day we won't be able to take a step forward without being nostalgic over the step we just took".
Oh... and Frank's favorite high school memory of the one and only pep rally he attended. The cheerleaders came on stage and said, "Everybody stand up, and this includes you, Frank Zappa!"
